The Vision
At the heart of Emmaus Church is a question: ”What if church were a place where everyone was safe, but no one was comfortable?” (Rachel Held Evans, Searching for Sunday) We like the idea of that.
Emmaus Church is a community committed to living out the way of Jesus by creating space where we can ask questions and wrestle with the big things in life, connect in deep and meaningful relationships, and challenge each other to partner with God by leveraging our lives in a way that brings more good into the world.
Common Practices
The invitation of Jesus isn’t, “Hey, come and think about a bunch of stuff…” No, the invitation of Jesus is, “Come, follow me, and let me show you a better way to be human. The goal of our faith is action, its movement, it’s real life…really lived, which is why we are a community united around 3 Common Practices:
01. Open Handed Conviction
Having convictions and holding them well
02. Whole Hearted Living
Living more honestly with God, with ourselves, and with one another
03. Wide Eyed Participation
Accepting the invitation to be involved in what God is doing the world.
