We would like to make you aware of the remaining dates the River Center is not available to us this year:  4/28, 5/19, 6/2, and 7/28.  Instead of in-person worship on those dates, we will post virtual services to the Facebook page and website.  We are thinking of creative ways to make the most of not being able to gather together on those Sunday. We hope you'll join us for the BigTable on Sunday, April 21st at 5pm at the River Center.  The evening will include dinner, volunteer recognition, and updates on all aspects of the church.  We consider the BigTable an annual "state of the church" event, and we think it's important for you all to be there. We hope you'll consider turning in any questions you have ahead of time to help us put together a meaningful evening. (Childcare will not be provided).

GroupLife is a three-week class focused on all things related to being in a small group as well as the opportunity to meet other people interested in joining a group.  Attendance of all three classes is encouraged but not mandatory.  Registering simply gives us a rough idea of how many people to plan for. We will meet for an additional class on 3/24 from 5-630pm at the Environmental Center in Saluda Shoals Park.

In collaboration with MORE Justice, Emmaus Church and other faith-based congregations will join for the Nehemiah Action at Eau Claire High School on Monday, March 18th at 6pm. This evening is dedicated to asking elected officials for their support to help make the Midlands a more equitable place for all.

The idea behind The Table is simple. Enjoy a nice meal and meaningful conversation with some other awesome human beings. Coming to a Table will not only offer you a fun evening, but it will also help to establish a few familiar faces when you come to worship on Sunday morning. When you sign up, you will be sent to a host home along with other people from various life stages. We ask that you bring a side or a dessert, the host will provide the main dish, and we will take care of the flow of the evening. 

We will enjoy a meal together, talk through the Common Practices that give Emmaus its identity, and flesh out what it looks like to commit to them. So, if you’ve been feeling like Emmaus just might be your home church, this class is for you! Click here to register.

Please join us for a churchwide DEIB workshop on Wednesday, January 24th at 6:00pm at the River Center. All are welcome and highly encouraged to attend, as we continue to move forward as a church that is dedicated to radical love, complete belonging, and a justice that rolls down like an ever-flowing stream. The workshop will be interactive and challenging, and is intended to serve as the beginning of our collective conversations around the work that it takes to ensure that needs are met for every single person, every single time. MORE Justice organizers have graciously added this event to their calendar and it is specific to Emmaus (this would usually be done with multiple churches in one space). Join us for a Cookie and Gift Exchange! If you'd like to participate in the Cookie Exchange, please bring 3 dozen cookies and an extra container to take home the cookies you get at the exchange. If you'd also like to participate in the Trash to Treasure Gift Exchange, bring a wrapped item from your home (can't go out and purchase anything). Snacks and drinks will be provided. Emmaus Students will head to Midlands Orphan Relief (D Ave, West Columbia) to sort clothes, pack care bags, and help organize the facility.  Everyone is welcome to join them! 

Emmaus Students will have their Christmas gathering on Sunday, December 3rd from 6-7:30pm at Loveland Coffee in Irmo.  It will be a time for food, worship and fun. Bring a new toy or book to donate. Feel free to bring something sweet or savory to share, and there will be coffee available for purchase.

On Saturday, September 30th, we will be going out into the community to do some tangible, hands-on projects. The goal is that our church can get out and serve, while we also accomplish efforts that will advance the missions of the organizations in the community. We will have service project options for adults and students, and children can join their parents at Sharing Gods Love for a family-friendly service option. Click here to register.

We will celebrate baptism on Sunday, August 13th at 4pm at Lindsey Day’s home. We will celebrate with those who are being baptized for the first time or who are reaffirming their baptism. This gathering is not just for those who are getting baptized, it’s for all of us. We are asking everyone to bring a covered dish to share. We will take care of the rest. The pool isn’t just for the baptism either. Bring your swimwear and maybe we can get a cannonball contest going or something. Email Lindsey for the address or if you have questions.
